Terms &Conditions         Devon Thermal & Damp Inspections

1. Nature of the Service

Devon Thermal & Damp Inspections provides independent, non-invasive diagnostic inspections to help identify visible and measurable indicators associated with dampness, condensation, mould growth, water ingress and thermal anomalies.

The service is diagnostic in nature and does not constitute a building survey, structural survey, repair specification, design service or certification.

2. Scope of Inspection

Inspections may include:

Visual assessment of accessible areas

Thermal imaging

Moisture measurements

Relative humidity and dew point assessment

Ventilation observations

External observations where accessible and safe to do so

Inspection methods may vary depending on the property, weather conditions and access available at the time of inspection.

3. Non-Invasive Inspection

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, inspections are non-invasive.

No walls, ceilings, floors, roof coverings, fixtures or fittings will be opened, dismantled or removed.

Hidden defects may exist which cannot be identified during a non-invasive inspection.

4. Findings and Conclusions

All findings are based on conditions observed at the time of inspection.

Any conclusions contained within the report represent a professional opinion based on the evidence available during the inspection.

Where a cause is identified, this will normally be reported as the most likely cause based on the information available at the time.

5. Recommendations and Suggested Remedial Approach

Reports may include recommendations and a suggested remedial approach.

These are provided for guidance only and do not constitute:

A repair specification

A method statement

A schedule of works

A guarantee of successful repair

The final selection of repair methods, products, materials and contractors remains the responsibility of the property owner and/or appointed contractor.

6. Further Investigation

Additional investigation by appropriately qualified specialists may be required before remedial works are undertaken.

Recommendations may change if further information becomes available after the inspection.

7. External Factors

Building performance may be affected by weather conditions, occupancy patterns, heating habits, ventilation practices, maintenance history and concealed construction details.

These factors may influence inspection findings and future building performance.

8. No Guarantee

No guarantee is provided that any recommendation or suggested remedial approach will completely resolve the issue identified.

Moisture-related problems may have multiple contributing factors that cannot always be fully confirmed through non-invasive inspection alone.

9. Report Use

The report is prepared solely for the named client and the inspected property.

No responsibility is accepted to any third party relying upon the report.

10. Payment Terms

Payment is due in accordance with the invoice issued.

For private clients, full payment is required before the inspection report is released unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Devon Thermal & Damp Inspections reserves the right to withhold the report until full payment has been received.

Failure to make payment may result in cancellation or rescheduling of the inspection.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the liability of Devon Thermal & Damp Inspections arising from the inspection or report shall be limited to the fee paid for the inspection service.

12. Acceptance of Terms

Booking an inspection, making payment, or accepting delivery of the inspection report constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

13. Use of Anonymised Photographs

By accepting these Terms and Conditions and proceeding with the inspection, the Client agrees that anonymised photographs taken during the inspection may be used by Devon Thermal & Damp Inspections for educational, training, portfolio and marketing purposes.

No client names, property addresses, identifiable individuals, vehicle registration numbers or other identifying information will be disclosed. Photographs will be selected or edited where necessary to minimise the likelihood of identifying a specific property.
